KOKO (Keep On Keeping On) tops the Official Chart Update, setting the Leigh-based indie-pop band The Lottery Winners up to secure their second UK Number 1 album.

In 2023, the band—Thom Rylance, Robert Lally, Katie Lloyd, and Joe Singleton—claimed the top position with their third studio album, Anxiety Replacement Therapy. Their earlier singles, Something To Leave The House For (2021) and The Lottery Winners (2020), both reached success, reaching Number 11 and Number 23 on the charts, respectively.

Close behind at Number 2 in the midweek charts are Scottish pop veterans Deacon Blue with their 11th studio album, The Great Western Road. If they can close the gap, this release would be their seventh UK Top 10 album. The competition is fierce, with less than 2,000 chart units between the two acts, so it is a race to see.

Elsewhere on the charts, Selena Gomez and benny blanco’s first joint venture, I Said I Loved You First, is forecast to come in at Number 4. If the pattern continues, it will be Selena’s second Top 10 UK album and benny blanco’s first.

In the meantime, English rock group The Horrors come back strong with Night Life, which is at Number 5 midweek. It’s their fourth Top 10 album and their first in eight years, so it’s a long-awaited return for fans.

Lower down the charts, McFly’s live record, 21 Live, is causing a splash and may enter at Number 14. The record documents the band’s historic 21st-anniversary show at London’s O2 Arena, held last year.

Indie-pop favorite Japanese Breakfast, fronted by Michelle Zauner, are also breaking records with their new album, For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women). The album has the potential to become the band’s first-ever Top 40 UK album and is already at Number 21 in the midweek update.

And last but not least, Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes’ Live At The Greek is poised to re-appear on the charts, quite possibly returning to the Top 40 at Number 37. This is part of the album’s exclusive 25th-anniversary re-release. Jimmy Page, being a member of Led Zeppelin from the beginning, has already achieved eight UK Number 1 albums, and this new chart action speaks to the lasting power of his music.

Everyone’s eyes are on The Lottery Winners as they move closer to claiming the number one position in the charts following such a close week. Will Deacon Blue come out on top in the end, or will KOKO hold onto it? As soon as the official chart positions are confirmed, the answer will be revealed.
