A popular rock band that became popular during the 1990s is preparing to release its first full-length album in nearly a decade.

In an interview with the German magazine Flux FM, which ThePRP translated, Incubus lead singer Brandon Boyd mentioned that the band finished recording their ninth studio album about two months ago. They will be releasing their first single since “8.” in 2017.

“It’s mastered, it’s mixed, it’s just ready to go. We’re currently working on the artwork,” Boyd revealed, hinting at how close fans are to hearing the new material.

According to him, the creative process unfolded rapidly, which he believes is always a good sign. “When an album comes together quickly, it means we’ve entered a kind of flow state,” he said.

Boyd expects the album to come out in October, with a first single to emerge before that. Although the actual title is kept secret, he was positive about the outcome. “I think it’s a really great record, and I’m really proud of it. Everyone in the band is really proud of it. We had an amazing time recording it.”

The album was co-produced by Brendan O’Brien, a well-experienced partner who had previously worked with Incubus during their 2004 release “.A Crow Left Of The Murder” and their 2006 album “Light Grenades.” Aside from his work with the band, O’Brien had also worked with Boyd on his side project, Sons of the Sea.

“He’s my go-to producer that I’ve ever worked with, and I’m so glad that we were able to reunite for this album,” Boyd stated.

This album will also mark the first time that bassist Nicole Row will be included as an official member of the band. Row first came aboard with Incubus in March 2023 as a touring bassist to replace longtime member Ben Kenney. Kenney left the band after having surgery for a brain tumor, which sadly left him deaf in one ear and half-paralyzed on his face. Row became an official member of the band in February 2024.

“She absolutely nailed it. We’re all completely in love with her energy, and she’s become an invaluable part of the band in such a short time,” Boyd said. “We’re thrilled she decided to come on board—it’s been a great experience.”

Since its establishment in 1991, Incubus has gained a devoted fan base due to its distinctive fusion of alternative rock and funk-metal styles. They have made a major contribution to the rock genre with many gold and platinum albums. Some of their popular songs include “Drive,” “Wish You Were Here,” “Stellar,” “Nice to Know You,” “Anna Molly,” and “Pardon Me.”

The group is also set to embark on a tour as expectations for their new album build. One such performance is the highly awaited visit to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. In order not to miss what appears to be a thrilling new installment in Incubus’ storied history, fans can acquire tickets from trustworthy websites such as StubHub and Vivid Seats.
