Music legend Elton John has opened up on the emotional evaluation of his life and career and how music impacted his life. The 77-year-old admitted in an open new interview that throughout the tumultuous times of his fame, music “nearly killed” him. “Music is the necessity of my existence. Music saved my life and still is today, albeit it nearly did kill me. But hardly so much so the music of the past. “I stay alive on account of music of the future,” he elucidated.

Yet, his tale is also one of victory. After struggling with addiction for decades, Elton fought back and entered rehab in 1990. Ever since, he has gotten his life together and become a force for sobriety. In fact, last year, he reported that his life has “never been better,” a far cry from the turmoil of his younger days.

Being one of the world’s most cherished musicians, Sir Elton never hesitated to share his experiences, both highs and lows. But even amidst the trials that he encountered, he made it clear that music has been his savior. Although he conceded that the demands of fame almost destroyed him, it was precisely the same that sustained him.

Elton John’s professional life has covered over seven decades, and his impact on the music world cannot be questioned. His legacy does not just include pioneering albums and numerous chart leaders but also a steadfast dedication to leveraging his influence to bring about awareness for serious causes, like AIDS research and LGBTQ+ issues. Music has always played the central part in his existence, and despite his journey oftentimes being troubled by personal drama, it was the hope of producing new noises and presenting them to the masses that drove him forward.

Looking forward, Elton John is gearing up for the release of a new album next month with US singer Brandi Carlile. Their collaborative effort, Who Believes in Angels?, will be released on April 4 under Island EMI Records. The album will comprise an assortment of new songs, among them “Never Too Late,” which is an Oscar-nominated tune that was created from Elton’s 2021 documentary under the same title.

During the interview, Elton expressed his admiration for Carlile both as a human being and as an artist. “I love her so much and not just as a person, but I love what’s inside of her musically and creatively,” he mentioned. He even gave her high acclaim for her potential, calling her an artist who has just started revealing to the world how good she really is. “It hasn’t even scratched the surface. I think it’s starting to, but it’s got a lot, lot farther to travel. She’s like an embryo right now, and she’s done a bloody hell of a lot to be an embryo, but she’s going to just explode,” Elton bubbled.

The duo’s effort is one of the biggest milestones in both artists’ careers, and the fans are waiting with bated breath to see what has been created by the two artists. For Elton, the thrill of collaborating with Carlile and the prospect of new music being released is a reminder of the strength that music has in his life, even after decades in the business. It’s a testament to his continued passion for his work, as well as his dedication to the future of music.

Elton John’s autobiographical reflections are a powerful reminder of the therapeutic power of music as well as the difficulties that may accompany fame. It is clear that music has been both his greatest nemesis and greatest salvation, even though he concedes that the path he has followed has been very difficult. It is evident that Sir Elton John remains as dedicated to his art and invested in it as ever as he prepares to make new music and continue on his journey of professional and personal growth.
